COL Mark R. Quantock was born 6 April 1960 in Troy, New York. He entered the United States Army as a Distinguished Military Graduate of New Mexico Military Institute and the State University of New York at Plattsburgh in 1982. His assignments include tours in the continental United States, Europe, the Pacific, and a combat tour in Southwest Asia. Prior to his current assignment, COL Quantock attended the National War College at Ft McNair, Washington, D.C. During his military career, COL Quantock has served in a variety of command and staff positions. His previous assignments include Deputy Directory, Directorate of Combat Developments, Ft Huachuca, AZ, from July 2002 to June 2004; Battalion Commander, 743rd MI Bn, Buckley AFB, CO, from July 2000-July 2004; ACofS G2, 4th Infantry Division (Mechanized), Ft Hood, Texas, from June 1999 to June 2000; Command Program Manager, PERSCOM, from May 1998 to May 1999; LTC (MI) Assignment Officer, PERSCOM, from May 1996 to May 1998; S3 and XO, 201st MI Bn, 513th MI Bde, Ft Gordon, GA, from June 1994 to May 1996; S3, 742 MI Bn, Ft. George G. Meade, MD, from December 1992 to June 1993; Brigade S2, 3rd Bde, 25th ID(L) from December 1988 to March 1990; Company Commander, HHC, 125th MI Bn, 25th ID(L), HI from June 1987 to December 1988; Division Electronic Warfare Officer, 25th ID(L), from June 1986 to June 1987; Brigade Assistant S2 and Assistant S3, 3rd Bde, 8ID(M), from September 1984 to December 1985; and Battalion S2, 5-77 Armor Bn, from December 1982 to September 1984. COL Quantock holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Latin American Studies and History from State University of New York at Plattsburgh, a Master of Science in Administration from Central Michigan University, and a Master of Arts degree in National Security Strategy from the National War College. His military education includes the Military Intelligence Basic Course, the Military Intelligence Advanced Course, and the United States Army Command and General Staff College. COL Quantock is also a 1992 graduate of the Junior Officer Cryptologic Career Program (JOCCP), National Security Agency (NSA). COL Quantock’s awards and decorations include the Legion of Merit; Bronze Star Medal; Defense Meritorious Service Medal; Meritorious Service Medal with four Oak Leaf Clusters (OLC); Army Commendation Medal with four OLC; Army Achievement Medal; Airborne and Air Assault Badges; and foreign awards.
